  • How does dataGOroaming SIM/hotspot work?

    • dataGOroaming SIM and hotspot, is a wireless SIM/hotspot which works around the world to access the Internet cheaply. For data on future trips simply activate and top it up here on the portal with a prepaid data bundle of your choosing, by selecting the zone you will use it in and the size of the data bundle you require. Data bundles last for 30 days.

  • Do I need to register or to activate the hotspot?

    • Your dataGOroaming SIM is registered to your email address upon purchase, and an account created. You need to activate your starter data bundle using the PIN provided in your shipping confirmation email and set the start data for your starter bundle. Your starter bundle will expire after 30 days if you have not used all your data.

  • Do I need to set up an account?

    • Your dataGOroaming SIM is registered to your email address upon purchase, and an account created. The temporary password for your account can be found in your shipping confirmation email. Your dataGOroaming account gives you access to live data usage and email notifications. It will also help you to top up in future if you forget or lose your Sim ID and you have the option to set up auto top-up with your credit card.

  • How do I check my usage?

    • You have access to the live usage monitor in the 'My dataGOroaming SIM’ section of this site. We will also send email alerts to your registered email addresses. You can add additional notification email addresses at any time, but may not remove the master account email address that your dataGOroaming SIM is registered to.

  • Should data roaming be turned on or off in my tablet/phone?

    • If using the hotspot, we strongly recommend that data roaming is turned off in your tablet/phone when abroad. This is to ensure that you don't accidentally use the Internet via your home network provider and risk high roaming charges.

  • Can I use my dataGOroaming SIM to make calls and SMS?

    • No, your dataGOroaming SIM is only enabled for data. Your dataGOroaming SIM does support apps such as Skype and Whatsapp that give voice and SMS functionality.

  • How can I use voice and SMS on my device?

    • There are a range of apps available such as Skype and Whatsapp that allow you to use voice and text functionality. You only need a data connection to access these services so your dataGOroaming SIM supports use of these apps.

  • Can I change my data bundle zone?

    • If your bundle has expired or all of the data allowance has been used up, you can buy a new bundle for any zone. If you wish to change your data bundle zone mid-term, then please see the below question "I want to change my Zone before my bundle has been used up/expired, what can I do?".

  • I want to change my zone before my bundle has been used up/expired, what can I do?

    • You are able to upgrade the remaining data allowance in your active bundle to be usable in the new zone. The top up portal will make it clear how much data you have left and how much this will cost, and you can pay by any of the approved payment methods. The expiry date remains the same for this bundle.
